Ming Pao: Soft Meals as Proper Meals – Family Bonding Over Lunar New Year Poon Choi and Roast Goose

As the Lunar New Year approaches, families traditionally gather to celebrate with a festive meal. However, for individuals with swallowing difficulties, dining out has never been easy, as very few restaurants offered on-site care food options. Caregivers often had to prepare separate meals, dampening the joyful atmosphere 😢.

In mid-2024, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service launched the Care Food Incubation Scheme, encouraging more eateries to provide care food dine-in meals, allowing those with swallowing difficulties to dine out with their families, sharing not just a table but the experience 👍🏻. Currently, four Seed Restaurants offer Care Food menus, including: iBakery Gallery Cafe, The Leaf Kitchen, Yung Kee Restaurant, ASAP ✨

With iBakery Gallery Cafe and ASAP focusing on Western dishes, The Leaf Kitchen offering Taiwanese flavors, and Yung Kee serving classic Chinese cuisine, the program aims to provide diverse dining choices for people with swallowing difficulties, helping them "Eat with Joy" in this festive season 😋😇.
