Soft Gourmet "Taste Joy"

Recently, several fast-food chains have introduced their "Taste Joy" brand under the Soft Gourmet line, offering IDDSI Level 4 and Level 6 Care Food options. Through the "Bon Appétit Cafe" program, the chain will collaborate with social service organizations to distribute 50 meal vouchers each to 1,000 individuals with swallowing difficulties and the elderly.

Mr. Chua Hoi-wai, CEO of HKCSS, highlighted that nursing homes often face staff shortages, making it challenging to prepare meals according to different IDDSI levels. Most nursing homes can only mince regular meals into purees for residents. Following earlier initiatives of restaurants offering Cantonese-style soft meals, this fast-food chain’s introduction of dine-in soft meals marks another step forward. Mr. Chua hopes to see more varieties, including Western-style options, to cater to the diverse preferences of elders.

We are delighted to see Care Food options expanding to more districts, empowering individuals with swallowing difficulties to enjoy dignified dining experiences. As more eateries embrace Care Food, we look forward to a future where these meals become widely accessible and diverse in the community.
