"Care Food Around You" Community "Eat with Joy" Initiative Follow-up Seminar

On January 8, the Care Food Working Group of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, together with a speech therapist, held a seminar at the Ho Wing Neighbourhood Centre for Senior Citizens in Sau Mau Ping, Kwun Tong to follow up on elderly participants' experiences with the meal boxes, gather feedback on the meals and the overall initiative, and share information about swallowing difficulties and Care Food. The elderly attendees participated enthusiastically 🙌🏻🙌🏻.

Mr. Tang Ho-wa, Speech Therapist and Care Food Star Ambassador, first collected feedback from the elderly on the meal boxes. Everyone actively shared their thoughts 📣💬, with most expressing high satisfaction with the program. Mr. Tang then reviewed the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) guidelines with the participants and demonstrated how to handle Level 5 and Level 6 foods. He also provided additional information on swallowing difficulties and led the group through speech therapy exercises, which the elderly engaged in with great interest 🤩🤩🤩.

The <Care Food – Home Edition: A Comprehensive Guide for Caregivers of People with Swallowing Difficulty> was recently published, and the working group took this opportunity to promote the book and the <Guideline of Care Food Standard> to the elderly. This ensures that even the program concludes, participants know where to find further resources 💖.
