Summary Day and Commendation Ceremony

The "Innovators" program's closing ceremony and commendation event were successfully held recently, with many social welfare workers, social work students, and people from different sectors in attendance. The event consisted of different segments based on the program's four core principles: "human-centeredness," "original intention," "co-creation," and "design thinking," witnessing the personal transformation and co-creation experiences during this year's Innovators program.

The project team invited Mr. Choi Hoi-wai, CEO of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, past innovators, and representatives of the host organizations to share their experiences and perspectives on "people-oriented organizations" and "cross-sector/organizational co-creation".

In line with the idea of co-creation among this year's innovators, the event specially invited the St. John's Cathedral Life Advancement Centre's Ruchu Theatre Company to perform a "One Person, One Story" Playback performance, which recreated the innovators' journey into the field and gave the audience a chance to express and reflect on their own original aspirations. Many participants expressed that they were moved and touched after watching the performance.

The "Human Library" segment also provides an opportunity for participants to interact with innovators and host organizations, and to discuss the benefits of cross-sector collaboration.

Congratulations again to the five innovators who completed their projects. As the sharer said, the completion of the project is like planting a seed about to sprout in the soil. We hope that everyone will bring what they have gained from the project back to the organization and even extend it to different sectors, so that it can blossom into abundant flowers and continue the spirit of innovation!

Innovator Training Camp III

Each year, the program includes an "Idea Implementation" fund, allowing innovators to implement the results of their creative and experimental ideas generated during the program, either individually or jointly. Like the previous year, this year's five innovators wanted to leverage the rapport they had built during the program to jointly apply for the fund, hoping to co-create an idea with greater social impact. This year, the program team used the training camp to provide the five innovators with a space for reflection and exchange—using design thinking methods to break down their ideas and rethink them, refining each part of their concepts. During the camp, they also consulted several university students about their perspectives on the ideas, hoping to inspire new ideas from an audience perspective.

Innovation Launch Day: Internship Matching and Quick Reading of Design Thinking

The event, conducted in small groups, allowed the five innovators and five host organizations to get to know each other, build relationships, and understand each other's expectations for the project. Each participant was invited to co-create a "Garden of Promises" to kick off the event, writing their promises and actions for the project on flowers. It is hoped that when people participate in the project, seeing the "Garden of Promises" will remind them of the promises they made.

During the matching process, the project team used a "speed dating" method to allow innovators and host organizations to get to know each other and evaluate each other, thereby matching the most suitable shadow internship pairings. In addition, a "design thinking speed reading" session was also conducted on the day of the event, giving participants a basic understanding of "design thinking" tools, hoping that each innovator can think from different perspectives and explore more possibilities.
